Kimbri is FOUR!

I can't believe we have a 4 year old! Kimbri is growing up so fast. Can we just slow down time for a little while?! Rick took his boards on July 24 so he had complete freedom from all school related stuff just in time for Kimbri's birthday! It was awesome.

Earlier that week, we went on over to Toys R Us so that Kimbri could redeem her little gift certificate that they send you in the mail as part of their Kids Club thing. Kimbri gave them the little certificate thing and they gave her a pink princess crown and a birthday balloon. Then we got to wander around the store so she could find something to use her $3 gift card that they gave her with. She picked out a whistle and bubbles.

The balloon flew out of the picture right as
I took it.

The night before her birthday, Rick and I put the kids to bed and then decorated and wrapped presents so it would be all ready for Kimbri first thing in the morning. I had found a huge roll of the pink streamer things at Goodwill for .69 and the snowflakes for .20 each at Hobby Lobby in their 80% off clearance section. Since we were doing a sort of Frozen themed party for her I thought they would be perfect to hang up with the balloons. She also had been talking, for weeks, about how she wanted party hats for her birthday. So I found some HUGE awesome party hats at the dollar store that her and Garrett were both in love with.

The next morning when Kimbri woke up, she was absolutely ecstatic! She seriously had been waiting for this day for so long. Each day when she would take a nap, she'd ask how many more naps she had to take before it was her birthday. Haha! It was pretty funny. When she walked out and saw the decorations and presents on the table she was so giddy and happy. We had donuts and milk for breakfast, complete with a pink frosting and sprinkled donut for the birthday girl :)

Then it was on to presents!

Garrett had got slippers for his birthday in January and ever since, Kimbri has been wanting to get slippers too. They went on clearance at Walmart at the end of the winter season and so I snatched up some Minnie Mouse slippers and kept them in our closet for a few months until her birthday. We also gave her some Frozen block books and an Anna and Elsa t-shirt. Also a counting/math puzzle, a matching game and some fairy wings I picked up at a yard sale for .20! Oh yeah. That is the best way to buy dress ups :)

A fun karaoke machine my parents
and Zach got her.

After breakfast we asked Kimbri what she wanted to do for her birthday. She said she wanted to ride her bike at the park. It was already sooooo hot so we tried asking her if she'd rather go to the pool but she had her little heart set on a bike ride. So we loaded up the bikes in the back of the car and headed over to a nearby pond that has a great path around the whole thing, perfect for a bike ride. Rick and I just walked alongside them and it was a fun little family outing. We even stopped halfway around the pond at the park but couldn't stay long because of the heat. But it fulfilled Kimbri's dream of a birthday bike ride so it was all good!

For lunch Kimbri had requested salad and spaghetti with peas and carrots. Yes, she loves all of those things! Kind of funny for a 4 year old to request those particular things for her birthday, haha!

After lunch we did cake! Normally I just make a cake for birthdays but we decided to order one from Sam's Club this year. They are HUGE cakes for only $18 and you can choose from a whole book of designs. Of course they had a Frozen design complete with sparkly snowflakes and character rings stuck into the frosting. It's so crazy that they can slap an edible picture and writing on the cake. Kimbri thought that it was so cool that her name was on the cake! We had cake for days after her birthday and still even have some in the freezer!

"Pin the nose on Olaf" game that Kimbri's friend Tessa had at
her birthday party and they passed it on to us to use!

Then it was nap time. We had so much fun all morning long with bike rides, the park, presents, donuts, lunch and cake! So the kids both took a nap so that we could party hard some more later in the day!

After nap time we loaded up and went to Bahama Bucks for Kimbri to get her free shave ice. They made it really special for her by having the staff sing for her. She also got to ring the birthday gong and they gave her a birthday card with a sticker and a golden umbrella in it along with a buy one get one free coupon to use the next time we go. She also wanted to wear her new Anna and Elsa shirt she had got that morning for her birthday.

Then off to the Sweet Tooth Fairy! They give you a free dessert on your birthday so Kimbri picked out a sugar cookie with, in my opinion, WAY too much frosting. But her and Garrett both loved it and gobbled it right up!

After those two stops we stopped at the usual "free food on your birthday" places, Joe's Real BBQ and Joe's Farm Grill. They give you a free $10 credit on your birthday so we took a copy of Kimbri's birth certificate and had an easy dinner since we already had made her birthday meal for lunch. At the BBQ we picked up homestyle mac and cheese and a huge container of applesauce for Kimbri and Garrett and at Joe's Farm Grill we picked up a pesto chicken sandwich with a side of fries that Rick and I ended up eating. HaHaHa! Kimbri couldn't eat all that food by herself anyway, right?! It was delicious!

The rest of the evening was spent playing with Kimbri's new presents and hanging out together as a family. I think it was a very fun and exciting birthday for Kimbri and now she is one year older and wiser too! And that night when she went to bed, she asked when it would be her birthday again. Yeah... not for a whole year Kimbri girl. She definitely loves her birthday ;)

The next day, Kimbri and Garrett ate the Elsa and Anna part
of the cake :)
